Boston College Professor Dr. Andrew Jorgenson to Discuss Militarization, Economic Growth, and Carbon Emissions at 天美麻花星空高清mv Green Living Seminar

Dr. Andrew Jorgenson, Boston College Professor and Chair of the Sociology Department, will give a talk titled 鈥淕uns Versus Climate: How Militarization Amplifies the Impact of Economic Growth on Carbon Emissions鈥 at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 at the 天美麻花星空高清mv Feigenbaum Center for Science and Innovation, Room 121.  

This presentation will investigate how and why national militaries shape the impact of economic growth on carbon pollution. 

This event is free and open to the public as part of 天美麻花星空高清mv鈥檚 Green Living Seminar series. 

About Dr. Andrew Jorgenson 
Dr. Andrew Jorgenson teaches sociology and environmental studies at Boston College. He also coordinates the Global Environmental Sociology Lab and works in the areas of environmental sociology, global political economy, the sociology of development, and sustainability science more broadly. In 2020, Dr. Jorgenson received the Fred Buttel Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Sociological Association鈥檚 Section on Environmental Sociology for his innovation, publication, and service in the field of environmental sociology.  

This year, he is on track to complete the Fifth National Climate Assessment as an appointed author by the US Global Change Research Program. Dr. Jorgenson is also a new member of the National Advisory Environmental Health Science Council for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.  

Dr. Jorgenson鈥檚 research focuses on human dimensions of global and regional environmental change in regard to how development, inequality, and the structure of global production and trade networks contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, industrial pollution, land cover change, and relationships between environmental conditions and population health.  

天美麻花星空高清mv鈥檚 annual Green Living Seminar Series continues through April 19, presenting a series of lectures on the theme of 鈥淐apitalism and the Environment.鈥 Every semester, the Green Living Seminar Series centers around a different topic, timely and relevant to current sustainability issues. Seminars take place on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
